My Story

After completing a UXDI bootcamp at General Assembly, I became a founding member of theCOOP where I did a bit of design, some social media marketing, all sorts of coordinating, and a lot of encouraging cross-team collaboration. Most importantly, I was immersed in an environment where recent tech grads honed their skills as a team with the guidance of experienced mentors. We broke things, we learned, we grew, and we had a ton of fun doing it!

Growing up in Puerto Rico, I moved to NYC with big dreams and a small budget. After touring Europe with the Fugees, I began a 12-year career with a real estate investment firm, starting as a receptionist, I quickly moved into management leading two departments until I decided to make a career pivot.

My work has always entailed empathy, leadership, and cultivating a collaborative work environment. Facing every role with the mindset of "a rising tide raises all ships", I believe that businesses succeed when individuals are aligned and support each other to reach a common goal.

I am passionate about culture, social good, and design education, and am thankful to have the opportunity to touch on all of these through my work. Currently working as a freelance designer with Karma, a creative studio for B Corps, members of 1% for the Planet, and established nonprofits, I am not only building my UX portfolio but expanding my skillset to include branding and strategy. Supporting businesses that do good is a dream!

There is more to life than work.

These are a few of my favorite things…

Travel

I’ve been to Germany, the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Sweden, Switzerland, Finland, and Slovakia; Mexico, Belize, Brazil, Peru, and Bolivia! As we say in Puerto Rico, “no me invites, que yo voy” (don’t invite me, because I’ll go) 😁 The world is an amazing place. I am always up for exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and meeting new people.

Puerto Rico

Ok, so you may be thinking that this should be under travel but this little piece of the world deserves its own space on my page. I am the go-to trip planner for family, friends, friends of friends, or any stranger I overhear on the street talking about a visit. I love everything about my Islita, and am always excited to share travel tips in the hopes that you will fall in love with it as well. Now that you’ve read this, let’s plan your visit!

Volunteer Work

I’m a volunteer UX subject matter expert with SCORE, the nation’s largest network of volunteer, expert business mentors, dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground, grow and achieve their goals. It is incredibly rewarding to share my knowledge with entrepreneurs, introducing them to the value of UX for their business no matter the stage, no matter the size.

I worked with The Fugees during their 2005 European tour. Yep, that explains a lot of my European travel. The backup singers choreographed a special dance that they’d do on stage at every show as an inside joke for me! When we came back to the U.S., I worked with Wyclef and Shakira for MTV’s TRL “Hips Don’t Lie” show. Such good times!
